Dear Subhas,

We recently purchased folding doors from your company which arrived on time and fitted yesterday 30th November.

I would like to complement you on your service and the quality of your staff. The senior was called Chris and he and his able assistant had come to us from Kent. They telephoned to advise us they were on their way and arrived in good time. We found them courteous and very able and we are delighted with the outcome.

We will certainly recommend your company to others and could we ask you to thank Chris and his assistant for really good job done.

Yours faithfully,

Wendy

I received superb service from the Folding Sliding Door company today and feel credit should be given when it's due.

Some background: we bought our house three years ago with a conservatory and sliding door set that was put in by the previous owner. The doors have never quite worked as we would have liked and we've been meaning to sort them out for ages. Our builders had a look at them and suggested contacting the original supplier and I'm so glad we did.

From the first phone call, the company were polite, helpful and keen to help despite the fact we didn't make the original purchase. Their suggested service option was exactly what we needed and amazingly they had people round the same day to start the job. As with all the staff we encountered, they were friendly, polite and talked us through what was wrong and what they needed to do. We now have most of our doors working perfectly and the final set will be when they return with a part.

I knew nothing of this company a couple of days ago but based on my experience would happily recommend them and look forward to proper working doors over the next few summers.

The fitters get all the good jobs! Our recent installation took a team to Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise in the French Alps. Hardwood timber doors were installed into a ski chalet, opening up the room on to some fantastic views. Nice work if you can get it.

Imagine having all your friends at home for that barbeque party on a summers evening.

• Is everyone struggling to squeeze in and out of the patio door you have now?

• How many of them, after a few drinks, are going to walk straight into the glass? Ouch!

• How many trip up over the threshold? .... with a glass of red wine!

Allow the traffic to flow and keep the party flowing problem free, give yourself the extra space that you need with a folding sliding door.

Don’t separate your inside from the outside, open your horizons and bring the outside in.

From the 1st of July 2013 it becomes mandatory that all construction products including Folding Sliding Doors MUST display the CE Mark. Products not CE Marked after this date cannot legally be placed on the market!

Mandating CE Marking enforces the disclosure of performance between different manufacturers and suppliers allowing for clear comparisons of performance and enabling customers to make an informed choice!

CE Marking demonstrates a product has been tested against a harmonised standard and the performance information is reliable and has been registered by a notified body.

The Folding Sliding Door Company has produced a Declaration Of Performance and is fully CE compliant!

Q. What is changing?

A. CE Marking will become mandatory in the UK from 1st July 2013 as set out in the Construction Products Regulation 2011. Therefore any window or external door product (without resistance to fire and/or smoke leakage characteristics)   ''NOT ''  CE Marked after this date cannot legally be placed on the market.

Q. Who is responsible for CE Marking?

A. Everyone in the supply chain has a responsibility to cascade the correct data, but the organisation who places the complete product on the market is responsible for affixing the CE Mark and accompanying information. In conclusion this is the organisation that brings the frame and glass together. This organisation is described as the ‘manufacturer’.

Q. I am an installer who purchases unglazed windows.

A. If you are an installer who purchases unglazed frames and glazed units separately, you are classed as the manufacturer and have responsibility for affixing the CE Mark and accompanying information.

Q. I am an installer who purchases glazed windows.

A. If you are an installer who purchases glazed frames, whilst you are not absolved of all responsibility you will not be required to affix the CE Mark and accompanying information. However you will have a responsibility to ensure that the CE Mark and information is available so that you can cascade it to the purchaser.

Q. What should I do next?

A. CE Marking becomes a regularity requirement across the EU from 1st July 2013 as a result of the Construction Products Regulation.. If your product is not CE Marked on or after this date,

                            ‘’it cannot legally be sold’’

Inline folding sliding doors are best left to the experts.

Too many corners have been cut in recently launched systems. A common failing is the use of either a top or bottom running track but not both.

These design omissions can compromise the effectiveness, security and operating limits of the system.

The Folding Sliding Door Company currently manufactures doors in sizes up to 4 metres high and 15 metres wide

The Folding Sliding Door Company offers a 25 year lifetime warranty on its product. "That's how much confidence we have in our product".

The Folding Sliding Door Company offers a no-quibble change on parts and has seen no need to alter its hardware specification in the last ten years.

Folding Sliding Doors Limited is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Demand has rocketed and competitors may have arrived but this complex product is still best left to the experts, says founder Paul Shearman.

Folding Sliding Doors Limited is celebrating its 10th anniversary. It was 2001 when Paul Shearman, a joiner working in the window industry, developed an inline folding sliding door system. The main improvement over previous attempts was in the hardware. He used flush hinges, slim handles and a running track on the top and bottom of the opening for even weight distribution and ease of operation of the opening panels.

The appeal of this product was that the door leaves folded neatly to create a wider opening – perfect for cafes in summertime or rooms in the home that face the garden, to give just two examples.

Paul Shearman continued to improve his product. "We were the first to develop an inline PVC-U folding sliding door system with no face fixed hardware and concealed running gear in 2003", he says. Paul's development was an advance on the cumbersome out bound hardware that was available and the introduction of running tracks meant smooth operation and the positive support to enable the manufacture of taller and wider folding sliding doors. Flush tracks were fitted as standard, complying with Part M disability access regulations, and the absence of faced fixed hinges made the installation more secure.

Within two years Folding Sliding Doors had acquired premises and was employing 16 staff to manufacture the product, which utilised VEKA Matrix PVC-U window and door profile. Turnover had reached £1 million by 2003. This year the Bradford company is on course to achieve £10 million turnover.

Today, the company makes inline folding sliding doors in aluminium, timber, ali-clad timber and a range of PVC-U systems. In addition, Folding Sliding Doors manufactures its own range of hardware which it supplies to some major retail and commercial trade manufacturers.

The popularity of these glazed doors has soared during the company's time in business as property owners have realised the potential of wider openings in commercial buildings and homes. This type of product, often supplied by Folding Sliding Doors, has featured on many TV home improvement programmes.

The product commands a high value. Consequently many installation companies have been keen to add it to their portfolio and some new companies have tried their hand at manufacturing it. A recent trend has seen several window systems companies develop their own system in an effort to grab a share of this market for themselves.
