Folding doors or sliding doors?
When planning for a new patio door, one of the key questions is. What sort of door should it be?
The factors to be considered are space, use and budget
Space
Some opening sizes may limit your options, too small and a sliding patio door will be too narrow, too big and some folding sliding door manufacturers may struggle to provide an adequate solution.
Use
Each door type has a different opening style. Sliding doors stack neatly inside the opening but in doing so restrict the overall size of the opening to as much as half of its size. Folding sliding doors provide a clear opening but require an area for the doors to stack up.
Budget
Folding sliding doors are generally a little more costly than a standard sliding door, this is due to the more complicated manufacture process and the additional hardware required to make them operate correctly.
